BMW M3 CSL

It’s not necessarily normal case but in the reality it happened before that the sole announcement of a limited edition with all its exotics of a shopping binge of that kind caused the result that before the delivery of the first exemplar it could be announced with pleasure: Sold out!

A lucky strike brought to the team of Marcel REIL of MR Car Design. i.e. the “daughter” REIL Performance in Erftstadt one piece of in total 1.383 vehicles of the limited edition BMW E46 M3 CSL, where the last three letters stand for, according to BMW, light weight construction of Coupé Sport. A light car body with a strong engine with unchanged engine displacement is the key to success. Doors and tailgates – as, by the way, other parts of Black Falcen – are made from very expensive, but with a strong resistant carbon and thus effectively contribute to the reduction of weight. The rear wing is originally from the Porsche GT3, side windows and rear window are made of Plexiglas. In connection with the body must be mentioned the Porsche Service Chrzanowski from the city of Langenfeld. The factory-made 360 HP (265 kW) from 3,2 liters of engine displacement is increased by REIL Performance to 391 HP (288 kW).

Species-appropriate exhaust system is also produced by MR Car Design. The wheels-tires combination of the special type combines rims from BBS Motorsport with Yokohama set of tires and for the chassis Bilstein is responsible. The brake system consisting of six pistons in the front and four in at the back that gets stucked into the grooved brake discs of Porsche GT3 are stifled with AX-cooling. The E46 M3 CSL is shrouded in dark blue color of CFC foil as the base and the strips of the same origin are presented in Bright Blue Metallic and Cherry Red. Thanks to Michael Hibgen and Patrick Barth from HplusB-Design, of the CFC-styling station in Monheim M3 has such a packing. Also in the interior REIL performance has nothing left to chance and installed a welded cage from company Cardiff.

Arranged in such a way BMW E46 M3 CSL exactly tips 1.260 kg on the scales and it’s good for a “Northern Loop” super time of 7:43 min. With these conditions the 130.000 euro reconstruction price completely moves to the background.

2012 BMW 6-series

Powerful dynamics, sporting performance and exclusive elegance in perfect form became available with the BMW 6-series Gran Coupé. Tuning fans can rejoice: once again AC Schnitzer has reinvented the top class four-door coupé.

With a performance upgrade from 313 to 360 HP in the BMW 640d and from 320 to 360 HP in the 640i, AC Schnitzer again impressively demonstrates that there are no upper limits to dynamics and sporting performance. The concentrated power band widened by the Aachen specialists with intelligent technology is documented by the AC Schnitzer engine bay styling for the 6-series Gran Coupé. The AC Schnitzer twin sports rear silencer with chromed “Sports Trim” tailpipes (right/left), also available in export version, provides the matching sound track.

Deceleration too can be perfected. With the AC Schnitzer 8-piston high performance brake system for the front, the tuning experts have set new standards. The system – consisting of an 8-piston fixed caliper (left/right), the 8-piece set of brake pads and brake caliper holders – shows that even perfection can be improved. The same applies to the road-holding: the AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit gives the already excellent driving dynamics a further boost.

The bodywork components for the 6-series Gran Coupé by AC Schnitzer were designed by perfectionists for perfectionists: front spoiler, chromed front grille with chrome strip, rear skirt extension and rear skirt protective film give the Coupé a bonus in sporting looks, which is continued in the interior with the AC Schnitzer “Evo” sports airbag steering wheel.

Top class equipment comes as standard with the BMW 6-series Gran Coupé. With targeted highlights of aluminium, AC Schnitzer gives the interior a sophisticated finish: the “Black Line” aluminium cover for the i-Drive system controller, aluminium footrests and pedals, and velours floor mats give the interior even more exclusivity.

The coupé’s wheelarches are filled with wheels of various styles (Type IV BiColor, Type IV silver, Type VIII BiColor, black and silver), in 19″ or 20″ depending on type. Lightweight forged alloys and forged racing rims Type VIII BiColor are available in sizes 9.0 x 21″ and 10.0 x 21″ with 255/30 R 21 tyres on the front and 295/25 R 21 tyres on the rear.
Perfectionism is defined as striving for perfection. This is the goal of the experts at AC Schnitzer, and the 6-series Gran Coupé demonstrates that even good things can actually be improved further.

2013 BMW M3 Coupe

BMW of North America today announced the 2013 M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition, of which 200 copies will be built this summer. Priced from $70,995 including $895 Destination and Handling, the M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition will be “…a classic car for a classic track,” as described by Skip Barber, owner of the historic Lime Rock Park racing circuit located in northwestern Connecticut. BMW and Lime Rock Park have collaborated on the M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition to celebrate the longstanding relationship between BMW automobiles, the famed Lime Rock Park racing circuit, and the thousands of passionate drivers and fans who join them together. Deliveries are planned to begin this September.

The BMW M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition will be constructed on the foundation of the iconic BMW M3 Coupe, now in its fourth generation, with enhancements selected through collaboration with Skip Barber and Lime Rock Park. Each car will be painted in rare Fire Orange and features Anthracite and Black cloth seating with Nappa leather trim. The popular Competition Package is fitted, and the M3′s signature carbon fiber composite roof panel will be retained on all copies produced. Also in the standard equipment profile will be a lightweight inconel-titanium exhaust muffler, carbon fiber front and rear aerodynamic aids, and an Anthracite Alcantara-covered, flat-bottom steering wheel. Finally, each M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition will be quickly identified by a numbered plaque located on the center console, a unique decal on the left-rear quarter window, and a certificate of authenticity.

California-based racing driver Bill Auberlen, whose career has been synonymous with the BMW brand in America for 17 years and includes over 300 professional races in BMW cars, joined Skip Barber and Lime Rock Park management on July 3rd, 2012 to evaluate the prototype of the M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition on the famed 1.5-mile circuit. Just a few days before starting his 100th American Le Mans Series race at Lime Rock Park, Auberlen remarked, “A race car is never allowed to be perfect. It’s the job of the driver to constantly suggest improvements and find more speed. But the M3 Lime Rock Park Edition may be as close to perfect as you can get, right off the production line. From its great color to the flawless manners it showed on the track, for the first time I can say I might not change a thing.”

The balanced, linear driving dynamics of the BMW M3 Coupe are often described as a perfect match for the challenging Lime Rock Park circuit. As described by track owner Skip Barber:
“A newcomer looks at the track map and thinks, ‘Oh, this is easy.’ It’s not. Lime Rock is an extremely difficult track to drive quickly. It has three of what many drivers think are some of the most challenging corners in North America: The Uphill, West Bend and The Downhill,” Barber said. “There are tricky cambers, extreme elevation changes, very high speeds… all Lime Rock signatures since it opened 55 years ago. And the BMW M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition, when equipped with the six-speed manual, is geared perfectly – and I mean perfectly – for the track. I agree with Bill: I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Lime Rock Park is one of America’s most recognized road racing venues and has been continuously operated since its opening in 1957. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places by the National Park Service, the track is 1.5 miles in length, encompassing seven corners and more than seven stories of elevation change. The track is considered one of the most beautiful -and challenging to drive – in the world, constructed in a natural valley in the Berkshire Mountains of extreme northwest Connecticut. BMW ActiveHybrid 3

Enhanced efficiency coupled with increased dynamics in the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 thanks to the combination of an award-winning combustion engine and an innovative electric drive.
BMW TwinPower Turbo technology working in tandem with an eight-speed automatic hybrid transmission and intelligent energy management.
All-electric operation up to 75 km/h (46 mph). All-electric driving range up to four kilometres (approx. 2.5 miles).

System output 250 kW/340 hp.

Outstanding ratio of driving performance to fuel consumption:
5.3 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph). 5.9 litres per 100 km
(47.9mpg imp) and 139 g CO2/km in the EU test cycle.

Latest-generation BMW ActiveHybrid technology: six-in-line engine, electric motor, lithium-ion battery.

The 225 kW/306 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is the same unit renowned for its free-revving capability, pulling power and efficiency in the BMW 335i. The electric motor, meanwhile, develops 40 kW/55 hp and is supplied with energy by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated underneath the luggage area.

Power from the two drive systems is transferred to the rear wheels by the eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition to its full-hybrid construction, which enables purely electric and therefore local emission-free driving in urban conditions or when coasting, the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 boasts not just highly sporty performance but also a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel economy over the BMW 335i/335iA.
Superior efficiency thanks to ECO PRO mode including coasting and intelligent energy management.

In order to exploit the potential of the BMW ActiveHybrid technology, the intelligent energy management of the power electronics uses a host of innovative functions to ensure the drive system runs efficiently.

Charging of the high-performance battery primarily takes place during coasting or braking, the electric motor performing the role of a generator feeding energy into the high-voltage battery. By contrast, under acceleration the electric motor takes on a boost function. Here, it assists the petrol engine by generating an ultra-dynamic burst of power, lending the Sedan’s sporty driving experience a sharper edge.

Moreover, while coasting at speeds of up to 160 km/h (100 mph) in ECO PRO mode, the combustion engine can be switched off and fully decoupled. This coasting mode combines comfortable driving with optimum utilisation of the kinetic energy already generated. To avoid periods with the engine running at idle at junctions or in traffic tailbacks, the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 deploys its hybrid start-stop function. Plus, the power electronics can be intelligently linked up with the navigation system Professional (optional on the ActiveHybrid 3). This allows for proactive analysis of the driving situation, enabling the drive components to be primed to deliver maximum efficiency (the effect may vary according to the quality of the available navigation data).

Design: sporty elegance with individual accents.
The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 sees the sporty yet elegant body design of the BMW 3 Series Sedan complemented by bespoke touches which highlight its innovative drive technology. The “ActiveHybrid 3″ lettering on the C-pillars and at the rear, along with the matt chrome exhaust tailpipes, set the exterior apart from the other models in the range. Further accents come courtesy of the standard satin-finish window surrounds and the BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow features in the side graphic.

Available as an option, meanwhile, are 18-inch Streamline light-alloy wheels displaying exceptional aerodynamic efficiency.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 also stands out visually with door sill strips bearing “ActiveHybrid 3″ lettering, an aluminium plate on the gearshift lever knob with the same ID, and a bespoke engine cover. In addition, all three Sport, Modern and Luxury lines as well as the M Sport package are available for the ActiveHybrid 3.

High-grade standard fittings, wide-ranging options.
The selection of interior colours, upholstery and interior trim elements reflects the range offered for the other BMW 3 Series Sedan variants.
Added to the standard-fitted array of comfort-enhancing features is also a
2-zone climate control system with stationary air conditioning.
A wide range of driver assistance systems and BMW ConnectedDrive mobility services, as well as virtually all the other optional extras available for the conventionally powered BMW 3 Series Sedan, can also be optionally specified for the BMW ActiveHybrid 3.
