The highlight of this year`s Chevrolet Europe presentation at the Geneva Motor Show is the new three-door Aveo, which will be shown to the public for the very first time. It underlines Chevrolet`s firm intention to quickly extend its successful compact class family, as the new five-door model is due to go on sale in March. The most significant features of both models are their striking exterior, high-quality interior and new, even more efficient gasoline engines. The dynamically styled three-door Aveo will reach European showrooms in June 2008. Buyers will have a choice of two gasoline engines: a 1.2-litre unit with an output of 84 hp and a 1.4-litre unit with 101 hp.
One year ago, the Geneva Motor Show saw the official birth of “Young? Creative? Chevrolet!”, the pan-European contest aimed at students of applied arts schools. Today, twelve months later, auto show visitors will be able to see one of the fruits of this successful initiative: The hostesses on the Chevrolet stand will wear the outfit that won first prize in Fashion, one of five disciplines covered in the contest. The dresses were designed by 20-year-old Léa Schindler, a student at the ESMOD International Fashion School in Lyon, France.
Expanding its range of capabilities, Chevrolet now offers a new, 6.2L small-block V-8 in the Tahoe LTZ in 2008. Rated at 380 horsepower (283 kW) and equipped with advanced technologies, it is the most powerful engine offered in the Tahoe lineup. The new engine is backed by a fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission.
“Tahoe LTZ’s new 6.2L engine highlights the wide range of choices available to Chevy customers,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “It also reinforces the Tahoe’s position as the most capable full-size SUV on the market.”

A six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission is paired with the 6.2L engine. It features a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio – including two overdrive gears – that helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter.
The Tahoe LTZ 6.2L has maximum towing capacity of 7,900 pounds (3,583 kg).
