Saleen Performance Vehicles is unveiling the latest product in its premiere line of high-performance cars, the 2011 Saleen S302. The debut will take place this weekend at the Carlisle Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA. This is the first Saleen vehicle launched this year, following the successful launches of the 435S and S281 in 2009.
The Saleen S302 is based on the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 and builds on the Saleen tradition of offering limited-edition, high-performance vehicles for enthusiasts who are looking for an exhilarating driving experience, with refined drivability for real-world road conditions.
Available in both coupe and convertible body styles, the S302 boasts a premium level of design consideration, both exterior and interior, with performance to match.

The S302′s exterior design features carefully crafted sculptural detailing, with lines and forms that flow naturally and suggest suppleness, power and agility. It features an understated yet imposing grille and front fascia, and a refined treatment of the familiar Saleen extended rear fascia and trunk lid with a simple, elegant, integrated wing.
The S302′s 5.0-liter V8 engine produces 425 hp and 395 lb.-ft. of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 final drive ratio.
The interior features new, leather sport seats with Ultrasuede inserts, highlighted by chevron-like Ultrasuede red tabs in the seatback bolsters, and unique treatments of the gauges, steering wheel, center console and shifter. There also are contrasting Saleen logos in the door panels, and Saleen logos in the door sill plates that illuminate when the door is opened.
Additional exterior highlights include unique, 20-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero high-performance tires, and Saleen S302 fender badging.
Saleen Performance Vehicles’ new 2010 S281 convertible will make its first public appearance this coming Sunday at the 25th Annual Fabulous Fords Forever!, hosted at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
The black S281 production convertible will be making its debut accompanied by a silver coupe and the powerful Saleen 435S. The Fabulous Fords show is one of the premier Ford events in the country and Saleen Performance Vehicles continues its tradition of interacting with the thousands of Ford enthusiasts who attend each year.
The S281, based on the 2010 Ford Mustang, displays a premium level of design consideration, both exterior and interior, with performance to match. It builds on the Saleen tradition of limited-edition, high-performance vehicles for enthusiasts who are looking for an exhilarating driving experience, with refined drivability for real-world road conditions.
The S281 features carefully crafted sculptural detailing, with lines and forms that flow naturally displaying suppleness, power and agility. And power is at the heart of the S281, emanating from a Saleen Series VI.5 twin-screw supercharger and dual-stage intercooler mated to 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 485 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, connected to the rear wheels via a short-throw, five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 final drive ratio.

At the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Saleen Performance Vehicles premiered its latest, ultimate, 2010-based Mustang, named – 2010 SALEEN S281. The new pony car conversion excels with its premium design level and high performance.

The refined SALEEN S281’s exterior features redesigned grille and front fascia, extended rear fascia and trunk lid with a simple, elegant, integrated wing. The striking vision is further strengthened by the unique, 20-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Rosso high-performance tires, and Saleen S281 Supercharged fender badging.
Fitted with a Saleen Series VI.5 twin-screw supercharger and dual-stage intercooler, the 2010 S281’s 4.6-liter V8 engine is capable to produce 485 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque transferred to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 final drive ratio.
Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with a Saleen Racecraft suspension system, which includes single-rate front and rear springs; nitrogen-pressurized front struts and rear; specially tuned front sway bar.
The interior of the ultimate machine is upholsted in special leather with Ultra-Suede inserts.

The Product
The Dark Horse provides 620HP with 600 ft.-lbs of torque with Speedlab SuperShaker option supplying exclusive styling while enhancing performance. “The vehicle takes advantage of the ram effect into the SuperShaker air box,” states Dan Agnew, Powertrain Engineering Manager, “It increases pressure in the air box, which adds boost by 0.5 psi and holds air charge temperature relatively constant even with the higher boost.”
Styling
This 25 unit special run combines the power and handling of the Saleen Extreme and the exclusive Heritage body style with interior and exterior cues found only in the “Dark Horse”. The elite Flat Black Exterior graphics and identification, Saleen serialized engine plaque, Navigation System and sport leather seating with Alcantara inserts adds to the exquisite style of this limited edition vehicle.
